Since ItemEyes is a photo-based app it allows you to tag and document "groups" of items in a single photo, versus having to take individual photos of each item. Take a photo of a wall, or a room, or a collection of items; then tag the valuable items in that photo and document them immediately or at a later date. Instead of dealing with 200+ photos of items and valuables in your home or business, you will have less photos to work with. This is much more efficient and manageable.
Step 1: Download the ItemEyes App from Apple App or Google Play store.
Step 2: Log in and set up user name and password.
A trial period of 14 days will start. After 14 days you will be charged $1.99 per month for the app. You can cancel any time, but if you cancel, you won’t have access to your photos or tag descriptions. We will maintain that information for 90 days if you decide you want to return and use the app again.
Once your account is created the HOME SCREEN will appear. The home screen has your most recent photos. At first, it will be empty, but will fill up as you add photos. After you add photos, click on any of the photos to add or edit tags, forward the photo, or delete it.
To start off, you’ll want to add locations to organize your photos by clicking on the CATALOG icon at the bottom of the app. Click on CREATE NEW LOCATION to add locations around your home where your items are located. Example, locations -- Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room, Primary Bedroom, Wine Cellar, etc. After you add a location name, at any time you can edit the name by clicking the three dots (...) to the right of that file.
Create a location under Catalog titled “Private” or “Safe” if you prefer not to reveal the exact location. Or, create a location titled “Collection” if you want to separately catalog a collection of items that may be physically located in multiple rooms.
To add a photo, click on the CAMERA icon at the bottom of the app. Choose a photo from your library or take a photo of a wall or room. Either retake or use the photo. If you choose to use the photo, you will be taken to a screen where you must catalog your image by choosing the “Location” of where the photo was taken.
In the upper right-hand corner, the plus sign (+) will generate a tag, or simply tap the photo with your finger to create a tag.
Also, in the upper right corner is an upward arrow for forwarding the photo, posting, or e-mailing.
The trash can is used for deleting a photo.
NOTE: All of the item information is editable only by you. If you prefer to use voice dictation versus writing or pasting copy to the fields, simply click on the ‘microphone’ icon at the bottom right of the keyboard and speak into app.
This is where your account information is stored. You can also logout from here.
Bottom lower right -- Manages Photo
Enter the name of the item. For instance: Antique Venetian Bowl, Poker Painting, Samsung TV, etc. In other words, a short generic description of the item.
Enter full item description here. Document the color, size, artist, materials, etc. that you want to be public if you share the photo.
Next, you will complete the following additional information in the listed field boxes. They are not required fields.
You already have the photo in the Catalog of the main location of the item. Here you will add a more specific location. In other words, if the item is in the “Living Room” catalog location, you would put something like: “Mantle on west wall” or “Coffee table in front of the couch”.
The date you are making the entry will automatically show up. If you wish, you can change this to the date the item was acquired or purchased.
Here you would add the place where you got the item. It might be the name of a store, or the name of the person who gave it to you, or you might not remember. Your entry can be as general or as specific as you want.
The actual or approximate amount you or someone else paid for the item. Or, if it was a gift, you could put free.
Here you want to document the current value of the item. This may entail some internet research or possibly a professional appraisal. Or, an approximate replacement value.
This is where you would put the name of the person or entity you want to eventually have this item. That could be when you move or are incapacitated, or as a bequeath in your will.
Upload additional photos that support the item. A receipt if you have it. A bar code. A close-up of the artist’s signature. A professional appraisal. You can add a number of photos.
If you click on SAVE, your photo will be saved in the location folder you were in. You must have at least a title for the photo to save. You may want to enter title only, then come back and add more information at a later date. There will be a plus (+) sign in a white bubble pointing to the item. Click on the bubble and information will reappear.
If you go back to the Category icon at the bottom, all Locations will appear. If you click on the Location of that item, that photo will be in there with the descriptive icon active. Your photo will also appear on the Home screen.
If you want to share a completely tagged photo with someone you can email or text them or share a link on Facebook or Twitter. They will see everything about that tagged photo, however they will not be able to edit anything.
Common usage, would be to forward a Link to an Attorney, Accountant or Insurance Agent.
